Prisoners of Geography

Booklet created by
Salina Ventress

Based on the Africa chapter in Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall.

Framed around decolonising the curriculum, this unit encourages pupils to be aware that they may have misconceptions on Africa shaped by media, and to correct them using evidence and reliable sources. It helps pupils gain confidence in unpacking unfamiliar and challenging vocabulary and builds toward a final essay task: whether Africa's physical geography has affected its social and economic development.
